Q.
How long does it take to upload a video?
A. First, It depends on the connection speed of the uploading computer. Victoryswap.com uses a state of the art CDN (Content Distribution Network) to ensure the fastest upload and download speeds. Our system does not slow down because of multiple simultaneous uploads or downloads. To make sure you have the fastest upload and download times 1) make sure your cameraman pauses between plays to keep the file as small as possible; 2, Upload speeds are determined by your internet connection and are usually much slower than download speeds with a standard Cable or DSL connection. 3) Our Content Distribution Network allows for the fastest times in the industry. Therefore, it is best to either upload your video at a facility with a T1 or higher connection with 5 mbps upload speeds or greater or to upload on Friday night after the game and let the video upload while you sleep. Tip: Set up your cameraman as an assistant coach and let him upload your video on Friday night after the game.
Q.
Why does the file have to be in WMV format?
A. WMV is as close to a universal format as it gets and is compatible with Game Video Editing Systems such as Apex Football. There has to be a standard so that everyone can view the downloaded file.
Q.
I get a Technical error or am just unable to upload a video, what do I do?
A. First, make sure that your computer power settings are set to never go off when plugged in and make sure the screensaver is turned off. Second. make sure the school district does not have a filter that blocks victoryswap.com or blocks ftp uploads. Second, Make sure the size of the file is about 300 to 600 MB (about 30 to 35 minutes of video). If the cameraman does not hit the pause button between plays, then the file could be too large for your system to handle. Third, refresh your 'Java' by clicking on the 'Get Java' link above the upload box. Then just hit the back button and see it that fixes the problem. If you still have trouble, contact support@victoryswap.com.
Q.
What is the best way to convert a file to wmv format?
A. For the surest way, Download the Capture Video Software provided with your paid subscription. Use a Camcorder such as a MiniDV with a 1394 connection (firewire) to capture live video directly to your computer and after the game it will be ready to upload and view. You can also use this software to capture the video from the camera after the game while in playback mode by rewinding the tape and playing it while connected and recording to the VictorySwap Capture Software. This will work with some USB camcorders, but not generally. If your camcorder has a USB connection, use the software that came with the camera and then import it to Windows Movie Maker and save it as a wmv file with approximately 400 MB in size. Alternatively you can use a DVD ripper/converter like “Any Video Converter” to convert the DVD to a .wmv file on your hard drive. You can download the free version by clicking here. You can then add the file to the upload box and hit the upload button. Tip: If you have a home internet connection, start the upload before going to bed so that it will be available the next morning.
